The Journey

There is no end to education. It is not that you read a book, pass an examination, and finish with education. The whole of life, from the moment you are born to the moment you die, is a process of learning.

As an educator turned instructional designer I firmly believe the purpose of learning is to empower the individual. The building of intellect and the enrichment it brings into an individual’s life fosters empowerment. Throughout my career as an academician, I believe I have served my students as a conduit to that end. I will continue to be the conduit that provides meaningful learning solutions for individuals and groups while ensuring that clients succeed in their business purpose. 

My journey in instructional design began when I joined my friend's firm to develop content for a university course. Within six months I had become a full-time contractor working on storyboards, reviewing and editing courses on an LMS. I had fallen in love with "Instructional Design!" The reason being the space this discipline provided me to use all of my skills and experience in academia, teaching, and research. My interactions with graduate students and faculty enabled me to understand how people learn. I learned to collaborate with faculty to identify the required behavior changes within ourselves and the ways to transform or produce content that is better aligned with student learning needs. My research experience taught me the importance of engaging with diverse stakeholders, being accommodative of opposing points of view, and presenting data-driven facts in visually compelling ways to arouse and maintain interest. 

Embarking in this exciting journey I have sought to hone my skills through the Applied Instructional Design program of the Learning Strategy and Design Academy. Working on real-life projects has helped me build the framework (My Design Process) that I would like to follow for client projects.
